Tint: Unite Your Social Channels

I stumbled upon a great tool the other day for showcasing feeds from your social media channels. It’s called Tint, and can be used on your website or at an event. To give you a taste of what it looks like, have a look at the Tint use over at 60 Minute Kids Club. This is where I first spotted the feature and loved what I saw.

This is a great example of a feature you can easily embed on your Peer Giving site. 60 Minute Kids Club did so using one of their custom pages, and I’ll walk you through the steps on how to do so on your own site.

1. Create an Account

First you’ll need to create an account with Tint. There is a free version that allows you to link up two social accounts, and that’s the one I’m using here.

2. Connect Your Accounts

Add your accounts to Tint. I added our Facebook page and Twitter handle.

3. Generate Embed Code

While your editing your “Tint”, choose the Display option from the left column. For my purposes I chose to just grab the HTML, but they have also created integrations for WordPress, Facebook and a number of other sites. I was able to choose my width and height, and then generate the code. For a custom page on Peer Giving, you’ll want to set your width to 940 if you want it to be the full width of the page (like 60 Minute Kids Club above).

4. Plug the Code Into Your Custom Page

Login to your Peer Giving site and go to Admin > Pages. If you already have a page started, you can just find it and edit it. Otherwise choose the “Create Custom Page” from the top right. Now, select the HTML button on the far right of your menu. Find the spot on the page where you’d like your Tint to live, and paste in that code. Switch back out of HTML and publish your page. Here’s what it looks like on our Demo site.
